SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

COMMISSIONERS’ MEETING ROOM

 

Coffee County Board of Commissioners met in a special called meeting at 11:00 o’clock A.M. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, for the purpose of setting the millage rate for Coffee County for 2011.  Present were:  Chairman Jimmy Kitchens, Commissioners Tom Rice, Earl Brice and Charles Deen, County Administrator Wesley Vickers and County Clerk Jo Ann Metts.

 

Chairman Kitchens called the meeting to order and announced the Commissioners and the Board of Education had a re-districting meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the Board of Elections Office at 5:00 o’clock P.M.

 

County Administrator Vickers went over the current 2011 tax digest and the five year history of levy.   This has been properly advertised in the newspaper and everything is in order to approve the millage rate for Coffee County which is the same as the previous year.  The rate for Coffee County is 7.847, and the rate for the EDA is .500 which makes a total tax levy of 8.347.  The taxes levied for Coffee County are $6,409.283.00 and for the EDA $408,391.00 which brings the total to $6,817,674.00.  The budgeted revenues are $6,396,000.00 which leaves a n-et overage of $13,283.00.  Ms. Shanda Henderson, Tax Commissioners, got an extension to submit the digest to the Georgia Department of Revenue until September 20, 2011.  The Board of Education will meet with the Commissioners on September 19, 2011, to approve the millage rate for the Board of Education.  Commissioner Brice made a motion to approve the millage rate of 7.847 for Coffee County and .500 for the EDA and this was seconded by Commissioner Deen.  All Commissioners unanimously agreed.   

 

Commissioner Brice made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 11:14 o’clock A.M. and this was seconded by Commissioner Deen.  All Commissioners unanimously agreed.
