REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2011

COMMISSIONERS’ MEETING ROOM

Coffee County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Monday, November 21, 2011, at 9:30 o’clock A.M. with the following present:  Chairman Jimmy Kitchens, Commissioners Frank Jackson, Earl Brice and Tom Rice, County Attorney Tony Rowell, County Administrator Wesley Vickers and County Clerk Jo Ann Metts.  Commissioner Charles Deen was absent due to surgery.

 

Chairman Kitchens called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.  Commissioner Rice gave the invocation.  Everyone participated in the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

 

Chairman Kitchens reminded everyone to have family time during the Thanksgiving Holidays and have a happy Thanksgiving.

 

Chairman Kitchens informed everyone that Commissioner Deen had surgery last week and was doing great and was expected to come home on Monday, November 21, 2011, and to keep him in your prayers as he continues to recover.  Courthouse and County offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday of this week.

 

Commissioner Rice made a motion to approve the minutes of the pre-meeting work session and regular meeting held on November 7, 2011, and this was seconded by Commissioner Brice.  All Commissioners unanimously agreed.

 

Commissioner Jackson made a motion to approve the agenda and this was seconded by Commissioner Brice.  All Commissioners unanimously agreed.

 

County Attorney Rowell stated the matter of closing 411.91 feet of Pewter Lane which was tabled from last meeting needed to be addressed.  The landowners have gotten an easement for Mr. Wright to get to his property.  The easement will be recorded in the Clerk of Superior Court’s Office and a copy given to our Clerk to put in the minutes.  Commissioner Rice made a motion to close  411.91 feet of Pewter Lane and this was seconded by Commissioner Jackson.   All Commissioners unanimously agreed.

 

County Attorney Rowell stated Commissioners needed to execute a lease agreement with Concerted Services, Inc. for the building on West Baker Highway next to the Health Department which establishes they occupy the building for twelve (12) months and they will provide utilities and maintenance, etc. on the building.  This lease can be voided provided either party is given a sixty day (60) notice.  Commissioner Jackson made a motion to enter into this lease agreement and this was seconded by Commissioner Brice.  All Commissioners unanimously agreed.

 

Commissioner Jackson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 9:36 o’clock A.M. and this was seconded by Commissioner Rice.  All Commissioners unanimously agreed.
